Help with in-text citation styles

Hi,

I'm a cpmplete newby with Zotero, and while I'll admit I'm very happy with it, I'm having trouble getting it to cite my in-text references.

I'm writting my dissertation using the Journal of Ecology as reference, and I can get the bibliography to do it but not in the text. It keeps giving me the citations in number format, when I need it as (Author1, year; Author2 and Author 3, year; Author4 et al. year; Author1, year a, b, c, ...)

Please help me. I know it's probably a very stupid and simple question but I'm at a loss right now...

Cheers,
Marta

Which style are you using in Zotero? I don't find any style with this name ("Journal of Ecology") in the style repository.

    Edit: sorry, my mistake.
  • Um... I just cliked on [Install] next to the journal name in the repository after typing "Ecology" in the filter box:

Journal of Ecology [Install] 2012-02-06 20:46:04

I then saved it into the syles folder and added it to the list of styles in the Zotero preferences. I've also changed the output setting to cite in Journal of Ecology, but it still does numbers... In fact I changed it Chigago-Author (which came with Zotero) and STILL it gave the citations as numbers...

Is there some other setting I need to change???

How are you creating your references? Which method: Word processor? Quick copy? See this link: http://www.zotero.org/support/creating_bibliographies
