Zotero 'not responding' whenever button is clicked in word add-in

Hi,

I haven't been able to find this problem elsewhere, happy to be redirected if I've missed it.

I'm using Standalone with Google Chrome and Word 2010 on Windows 7, and all Zotero stuff is up to date.

I have a document of around 15 pages with a fair few citations. Suddenly, Zotero has started to freeze whenever I try to do anything with it in Word, e.g. add a new citation, refresh citations, or alter document settings. This doesn't happen in a fresh document, but it does if I create a new doc and copy the old content across.

Surely Zotero isn't struggling to deal with the size of the doc?

I wasn't sure how to get a report ID, but below is one error report logged by Chrome:

[JavaScript Error: "undefined is not a function" {file: "chrome-extension://jciblakmllnhbhjjgkbkeihelcndmgnh/zotero.js" line: 91}]

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, but I'm not that tech savvy!

Thanks,

Rob
  • the error has nothing to do with the word plugin (the relevant error would be in Zotero, not in Chrome)
How long have you waited for the freeze to go away?
    Also, see here:

And no, 15 pages wit a bunch of citations is most certainly not a problem.
  • Thanks Adam, found citation causing all the problems - will delete and put the data in manually.

You guys are amazing! Such quick response time.

    Cheers.
  • If you still have the portion of the document that was causing problems, would you mind emailing it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
  • Have done. As far as I can tell the issue was caused by trying to cite two articles from the same single name author (in this case 'BBC News Online') which were published in the same year. Similar issue mentioned here, but with Firefox: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/22128/disambiguateaddgivenname-not-working/.

    Thoughts on that?
