Not grabbing information from Library catalogue

I posted this in the Troubleshooting category a while ago, where it has not received much attention. I realise now that perhaps I posted it in the wrong forum.

I'm finding that I cannot save items from my Library catalogue, even with the workaround discussed in this thread:

Even though I get the proper icon, when I click on it rather than the usual message "saving to Zotero" I get a blank rectangle (see screen shot below). After a while it just disappears and the item is not saved.
