How to make a reference timeline
Hi,
Moderator weigh in would be lovely.
I'm trying to make a timeline that can be viewed through a url, preferably by anyone, through which they can read a table's worth of text and be linked in the text to documents that I have uploaded to my storage. Is this possible?
Thanks

fbennettThe Zotero timeline function doesn't support export as far as I know, but you would get more flexibility over presentation by building one separately anyway. This looks like a nice widget for building timelines. You could use the read API from your Zotero library to fetch item data, and build the timeline by (refactoring and) feeding it to the widget locally. Then you would just need someplace to host the page. (A more ambitious approach would be to set up something to track a collection in your library or a group and build the timeline dynamically. Something like that would probably see a lot of reuse around the Web.)

fbennettApparently Zotero's own timeline feature uses code from the SIMILE project that I linked to above. A plugin described in the Zotero KnowledgeBase is meant for linking a Zotero library to an external timeline. It's not clear how up-to-date it is, but it would give you a starting point for exploring how to do what you want.
