Do highlights and annotations stay in attachments?

Hi,

I am only getting familiar with zotero, so if this was discussed before I apologize.

I have a question regarding highlighting and making annotations in attachments. Do these stay or do they reset at some point? Do they stay automatically, meaning each time I highlight some text it stay there, or do I have to save it somehow.

I know it is a noob question, but I am just starting on new project and wouldn't want to stay without notes or do the work again.

    If you annotate PDFs with adobe, foxit, pdfxchange etc. those annotations definitely stay and sync.

    But is zotero://attachment/138/ considered as webpage or not?

    everything for which you can use Zotero's annotation tools is a webpage.
