Creating Bibliographies

I am new to Zotero, but so far am very impressed. When I create a bibliography, is there any way (besides manually rearranging) to have the created bibliographic list correlate with the order in which documents are cited in a paper i am writing in Word? Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before.
  • Is there a bibliographic style that you are using that requires this? If so, what is it? As far as I know, most styles want the bibliography to be in alphabetical order. Is your request being required by a professor?

One way around this would be to manually create your bibliography by dragging the reference from Zotero to your document. This requires a few added steps, but can give you what you want.

It would get complicated, though, if you went back and added a citation in the middle somewhere. Doing things automatically is by far the better way to go.

Or, are you wanting endnotes of some sort? That certainly can done in Zotero.
  • There is no preference within Zotero (or AFAIK the Word plugin) to make that happen. I suspect it's a matter of the bibliographic style you are using. I haven't tried them all, but if you don't get a definitive answer from this forum, you might experiment with different styles to see if any do this, and still give you the formatting you want. If you don't find any, add the style you are interested (with a URL to documentation, and information on how it is related to other styles) to the "What styles do you want?" thread.
