Zotero plugin slows down my Firefox
I just bought a new strong computer a month ago and I have installed the Zotero 3.0.3 plugin for FF and also the Zotero 3.1.6 plugin for word (in FF). I also have the Zotero standalone.
I use FF 12.0
In my library I have around 1000 articles (no PDFs) just the Pubmed hyperlinks and page image. In the Zotero library I have only one "zotero.sqlite.bak" file and it is only 9MB. The entire Zotero folder is just ~44MB.
First few weeks I had no problem. But then a week ago FF began to react very slow. I have uninstalled the Zotero Plugin and deleted the entire library from my computer and then reinstalled the plugin and synced it with my on-line library. The speed improved a little for a short period (but did not get back to the regular speed), but after a day FF slowed down again. The slow down means that every time I open a new tab or try to switch between tabs it take 3-4seconds. Even switching from word or Excell back to FF takes several seconds (switching between other programs takes a split of a sec). When I disable the Zotero plugin FF returns to behave normal.

When you say that disabling Zotero returns Firefox to normal, are you sure that isn't just a temporary effect of restarting Firefox?
Other questions:
Are you using Zotero in pane or tab mode?
Does this happen if you don't open the Zotero pane after restarting Firefox?
I’m using Zotero mostly in a pane mode but when I need to work on tags I switch to tab mode.
From what I remember – every time I restart FF it works a bit better for a short period regardless of me opening or not opening the Zotero pane.
