zotero folder can not be copied: can't find the path of the file

Hello,

I have tried to find an answer to my problem in the discussions but failed to. All my apologies if it does exist and I could not find it.

I am facing a recurrent problem in Zotero. In order to back it up, I copy and paste the whole folder on my external hard disk, every once and awhile. Unfortunately, the pasting step would not work, because of one reference specifically, which stops the copy/paste, preventing me to back up my library.

Here is the error message I get(I'm translating from the french so it may not be the exact same terms in the english version):

Error when copying the file/folder
Impossible to copy "Kraaijeveld et al 1997 - title of the pdf"
Specified file can not be found
Check if the path and the name of the file are correct

I have tried a few things:
- If I go in zotero and ask to locate the folder of the corresponding pdf, it localizes it without problem.
- I thought the library item could be corrupted. So I suppressed the item in the library and imported it again (from the internet). No change.
- I read something about length limit. But pdf and library item have short names so it does not seem to apply.
- the only solution is to remove the item, but it is not really a solution in my view...

What I don't get (and that may be the cause of the problem) is what Zotero refer to with the name prompting in the error message (Kraaijeveld et al 1997 - title...)This does not correspond to the name of the attached pdf, so what is it? I can not find anything like this in the storage. Maybe it is a hidden file? I believe this name is something disconnected with the actual pdf, which prevents me to copy the whole folder.

I hope my message is not too confusing. I'm happy to provide more information if needed.

Thanks for your help!!!

Nelly
