SOLVED! zotero citations changes double lines to single lines in LibreOffice doc

whenever i insert a Zotero citation within a double line paragraph in a LibreOffice Writer document, the paragraph changes from double line to single line. Any one experience this issue and have a suggestion on how to fix it?
