Translation of website?

Hi everybody!

I was wondering whether anything was concretely planned to allow the translation of the Home page of http://www.zotero.org ?

I think the presentation of the features is a good way to promote Zotero. It'd be great to make it available in other languages as well!

Obviously, it'd also be great to translate the GUI for the features related to the syncing and collaborative features (Settings, "My Library", etc).

A quick search gave me this forum thread where plans about website translations are briefly brought up, but I'd like to know more.

Can we help to make it real?
  • the home/landing page itself will likely stay in English - different language pages would be hard to do - but you can help translate all of the documentation and the GUI already exists in translated versions.

    For the documentation
http://www.zotero.org/support/ note the little language tags at the top of the page to switch.

For the GUI, see the translation project here.
  • Sorry, my message wasn't clear enough.

I am aware that one can translate the documentation (I already contributed to some French translations), and that the client GUI is translated.

I really meant the landing page. Why would it be so hard to do? Many sites detect the preferred language and show the appropriate page. I know a thing or two about web development, so I may try to help you, if you want. Is the page PHP-generated or is it static? (I would guess the latter) How do you deploy it? Do you simply manually upload to your web host, or do you use some kind of tool to deploy?

As for the GUI, I meant the UI for the Zotero features on the website (things like "Settings", "Inbox" or "My Library"). Any practical plans to get that localized?
