RIS import ignores L1 field

(this is a new thread started by request from @aurimas, triggered by a response I had made in another thread by @jissede on "RIS import problem")

I had commented:
" ... zotero does not seem to read some of the RIS fields. In particular I am trying to import an RIS format file produced by Reference Manager that uses the L1 field to point to a local pdf file. zotero seems to ignore this. "

noksagt has replied
"L1 will be imported if it uses a URI that firefox is able to resolve. You may have to transform Endnote's quirky relative links into absolute file paths for this to work. "

So, I have tried the following versions of L1 content, all without success:
L1 - i:\pdf_files\Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf
L1 - file://i:\pdf_files\Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf
L1 - file://i:/pdf_files/Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf
L1 - file:///i:/pdf_files/Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf

any suggestions of what else to try would be very welcome, thanks!

Can you confirm that entering "file:///i:/pdf_files/Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf" (the last entry) in firefox opens up the PDF?

If it does and your import still does not work, please generate a report ID for the steps you're taking to import the RIS file.
  • I believe this issue may be resolved now - this last version "file:///i:/pdf_files/Schmalzl_Ehrsson_FHN_2011.pdf" is working.

ReferenceManager had included some non-text characters in the L1 field of the export file, for some reason, and when removed, the link to the pdf is there.

My mistake was to look for the link under the Info panel on the right pane, where I was expecting it to come under "Loc. in Archive" whereas I can now see the link as a secondary item within each reference listing in the central panel. My apologies for this false alarm.
