Irritating constant syncing w/ flash of info box

I'm just noticing this today (on Zotero 3.0.3, Firefox 11.0, MacOS 10.6.8), but Zotero is synching as frequently as every 5-10 seconds as I'm typing notes, and probably once a minute if it's just sitting idle. The synch is successful, but what's irritating is that I get a quarter-second or so flash of an informational box in the middle of the screen (much like a "Connecting to printer" or "Updating normal.dot" box in Word) every time it happens. I can continue to type in the notes field if that's what I'm doing, and it doesn't seem to be hurting anything - it's just damned annoying. Has anyone else seen anything like this? My wireless connection is about 5.5 Mbps both up and down right now, if that's any help.
