not importing citation anymore

I am having trouble importing any citation into Zotero. Initially I thought it was incompatibility with firefox 11 since the trouble started around that time. But zotero standalone also does not important citations saved as .ris.
I am able to work and create bibliography with existing citations. Also I am well below the storage quota upper limit. Any help would be appreciated.
  • please specify "trouble" - what type of citations are you importing, form where, and what error message are you getting.
Also, an error ID might help:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_bugs
  • The error id is 2128677785.

    1. Each time i try to import citations from scientific journals like Science direct, PlosOne, JSTOR into zotero firefox plugin, instead of directly importing into Zotero, i get prompted to save the citation.ris on laptop (windows 7, 32 bit).
    2. A small red bordered empty popup window opens in firefox on right hand corner upon trying to export the citation into zotero. (when zotero used to work, this used to be filled with the details of the manuscript being imported. Now it appears blank)
    3. After saving it locally, if i attempt to import citation manually --> Actions -->Import -->nothing happens. I don not get any prompt or error messages.
    4. Also the error Id is different with every attempt to import manuscript citations.
  • Not sure if this will fix it, by try deleting mimeTypes.rdf in your Firefox profile directory.
  • Try "reset translators" from the advanced tab of the Zotero preferences.

If that doesn't help - for 1.) - are you trying to import using the icon in the URL bar or using citation export on the respective webpage?
  • It works now!!!!
    I 'reset translators'.

Also i was using citation export from the respective webpages.
    Thanks
  • you want to use the URL bar icon for better results - many of the Zotero translators clean-up the records or add more info to the RIS export.
