Style generators

Hi there,

there was a thread (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2724/?Focus=67250) discussing these editors (http://csleditor.quist.de/csleditor/show/1/example-citation-style and http://www.somwhere.org/). The last post was one year ago. Are there any new inputs to this issue? Are there any newer or better style generators available today?

Phil
  • Short answer: No.

Longer answer: Search for "csl editor" on the forum
  • The only thing in the works at present is the Columbia/Mendeley project to produce a style editor. No code has been released yet, but it's a funded project (from the Sloane Foundation), and they've set the end of April as the target for an initial beta.

The logic behind citation styles is pretty complex, which makes the task of building a friendly editor (whatever its form -- something with a gentle learning curve) rather difficult. We'll see how things go with development, but in the medium term, at least, it's likely that the best results will continue to come from handcrafted styles.
