How to hide URL

Hello. Books out of copyright can be downloaded from the internet. I like to keep the URL as a record of where the book came from. However, this is making some of my bibliographies really long - for a 20 page paper, I had a 10 page bibliography! happens for patents and other things too. Is there any way I can stop the URL appearing, other than removing it from the URL field and adding it as a separate note?

    Whether the URL is shown is determined in the citation style - you can modify the style you're using or find one that doesn't use URLs (or at least not as much - there are a number of styles that only show URLs for webpages).
