Zotero does not accurately download snapshots

Zotero does not accurately capture (or display?) snapshots when I add items to my library (I think the CSS information is missing). However, if a snapshot is added to an entry after the fact, it appears as expected.

I can reproduce this behavior with any item on Cornell University's e-print archive, e.g., http://arxiv.org/abs/1109.6457

I am using the official 64-bit Mozilla Linux Firefox build 11.0 and Zotero 3.0.3 on Ubuntu 10.04.4.

Please help! Thanks!
  • The same snapshot issue happens with entries from the Physical Review Online Archive (PROLA) <http://prola.aps.org/>.
  • When snapshots are added by the translator, the webpage's html is the only thing that is downloaded. If that file uses relative links to style files and/or images (as arXiv and PROLA both do), you will not have that information.

When snapshots are added using the "create new item from current page", it downloads all supporting files (using WebPageDump).

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind using the two different mechanisms.
  • noksagt: Both methods actually use WebPageDump and should be identical. Simon will have to check if the translator infrastructure is somehow breaking WPD.
