2 bugs: address box disappearing & 'last accessed' not updating.

Firefox with no plugins and all extensions disabled except Zotero.

Bug 1.
When you have a note selected in the middle pane, if you then click the 'html' button in the right pane...
1) The address box disappears and localstore.rdf is corrupted such that the address box does not reappear on restart. You can get the address box back by opening a new window and dragging all your open tabs to the new window but that's not fun when you have a lot of tabs open.
2) In addition, the first time you click the html button, the window opens as a new tab and thereafter is opens as a new window.

Bug 2
For some items, notably notes (and documents and possibly others?), the 'last accessed' field is not being populated. If you have lots of standalone notes (and documents and possibly others?), this bug effectively means you can barely use 'last accessed' to find recently accessed items because when you sort new items to the top, you then have to scroll through pages of notes (and documents and possibly others?) to find those items, e.g. web pages, where the 'last accessed' field IS populating and updating correctly.

  • Oops, forgot to mention...

    XP SP3
    FirefoxPortable 10.0.2 (i.e. latest version)
    Zotero 3.0.3

No plugins or extensions other than Zotero, & standard theme.
  • 2. Do you mean last accessed or last modified?
The first is a citation field that's not supposed to update, the latter sound like it might be what you're talking about and it should.
  • 1. I can't reproduce either part of that, and it certainly isn't a general issue. (It's best to just report the issue you're having rather than assuming that it's happening to everyone.) Try deleting your localstore.rdf file with Firefox closed. It seems like you also might have modified your Firefox settings in some way that's causing that tab behavior, since the HTML button open a new window by default.

    2. What adamsmith said. It sounds like you're confusing 'Accessed' and 'Date Modified'. Notes don't have an 'Accessed' field. But you can probably accomplish what you want by using 'Date Added' instead.
  • OK, after much digging around, what causes the problem appears to be a conflict between the popular Tab Mix Plus add-on and Zotero.

Specifically, if in Tab Mix Plus options, under the Links tab, you have 'Javascript & Popup restriction' set to 'Open all popups in tabs', then you get the address box disappearing as described in 1) in my orig post.

    Two points:
    a) Setting 'Javascript & Popup restriction' to 'Allow resized popups' solves the problem immediately.
    b) as for the permanent corruption of localstore.rdf, that only occurs if this conflict has caused the address bar to disappear in *the last Firefox window you close*. i.e. to test without having to keep replacing localstore.rdf, simply open a web page in a new window, set the TMP pref, click the html button in Zotero's right pane and the address bar will disappear. Now, with two Firefox windows open, if you close the new window first, localstore.rdf will not be corrupted and the address bar WILL appear next time you open Firefox; however, if you close your original window(s) first and the new one last, you will have no address bar until you replace localstore.rdf.
