With pdf.js enabled, double-clicking on a PDF leads to a download dialog

With Zotero 3.0.3 and pdf.js 0.2.331, rather than opening in an external viewer, PDFs are served with a download dialog when double-clicked in Zotero.

When I disable pdf.js, opening the file by double clicking works as expected.

In your previous thread you say:
(Renaming mimeTypes.rdf as suggested in the linked support article merely caused the new mimeTypes.rdf that was generated to be nearly empty, with no entries for application/pdf. Then, if pdf.js is enabled, it is used to open Zotero files, which is not the desired behavior.)
If you have pdf.js installed, Zotero will use pdf.js to open PDFs by default. This is the default behavior with a PDF plugin installed. That you get a download dialog unless you reset mimeTypes.rdf is probably a bug in pdf.js and not Zotero.

If you don't want Zotero to open PDFs in pdf.js, you should right-click and select Open in External Viewer, or you should set the extensions.zotero.launchNonNativeFiles hidden pref to true.
  • The pref is exactly what I wanted. Thanks!
