Problems with Report item type

I need to cite a working paper which has an author and an editor. I am using the Report item type, and I have put in the information for: Title, Author, Series Editor, Report Number, Series Title, Place, Institution, Date, Pages and Short Title. When I create a bibliographic entry using Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) (author-date), it does not include the short title (it includes the long title). It also does not include the editor, the report number or the page numbers. I thought that the CMS style was supposed to include these fields. How can I resolve this?
  • The author-date style will never include short titles (nor should it). The page numbers are a current problem with the report item type - the item type should have a # of pages field, not a pages field.

Reports currently don't have an editor in Zotero, so it's not possible to include one - Series editor is something different.
  • Thanks for your feedback, Adam. Can you suggest a work around, so that I can get this item to appear correctly in the bibliography?
  • how do you want it to look?
  • Anicka Fast 2009. Managing linguistic diversity. In Peter K. Austin (ed.) Language Documentation and Description, Vol 6, 161-212 London: SOAS.

"Managing linguistic diversity" and "Language Documentation and Description" should be in italics.
  • I'd just cite this as a chapter/book section.
Is there are a particular reason against this?

You'll get the (long) title (Managing linguistic diversity in the church....) in quotation marks, but it strikes me as against Chicago Manual rules to put something that's not published by itself in italics anyway.
It's also definitely against CMoS to abbreviate titles in the bibliography. Where are you getting these prescriptions from?
  • Hi Adam. I apologize. You're right. I'm mixing up CMoS with another style. You are always so kind and quick to respond. I apologize for not having my information straight. I'll do some more research on my end to determine exactly what format I need. Then, I'll try again with using chapter/book section or another workaround in Zotero. If I still hit a dead end, I'll post again here on the forum. Thanks, again, for the amazing support you give for Zotero. That is a huge part of why I use it.
