creating a new style

could anybody give me simple directions on how to create a new style that fits French bibliography standards in humanities, ie: author family name, firt name, title in italics, place, publisher date
and I cannot find the way to format the ref for an article : I am sorry to ask such elementary questions, be generous and forginving please!
