WebDAV two-way sync support (file change notifications)

Hi,

I am using WebDAV for file attachments and it works great. Using the current zotero API, the ZotPad application (for instance) is able to read WebDAV files attachments successfully, however, there are limitations to provide a real access to my Zotero Files.

As formulated by ZotPad's developper : "WebDAV will be one way sync only until Zotero server supports file uploads. Even if you would be able to edit a file on WebDAV already, there is no way to notify Zotero that this file has changed."
(see the discussion on zotpad's ios application for zotero at http://www.zotpad.com/comment/4#comment-4)

The application would need to upload or edit files/attachments on the WebDAV server and then notify the zotero server that new files has been uploaded (or modified, deleted) and are to be updated. It seems that this part is currently not possible, so my post is to request support for it.

Thanks to the devs for their continued improvements to Zotero
  • Zotero's devs read every thread and Mikko (Zotpad's developer) is very active in the Zotero Dev community - there is no need to start extra feature requests for Zotero issues related to Zotpad.
  • Thank you Adam for your precision. The goal of the post was to simply ask directly for this support, and probably other people will care about it as well, since it is applicable not only to ZotPad, but more broadly for any client to zotero api.
  • Closing—as adamsmith said, we're well aware of this request and all other requests by third-party developers.
