Renaming files freezes Firefox for 1 minute

Hi there,
Is anybody else experiencing this problem?
After I link a PDF file to a reference, I click on it and select "Rename File from Parent Metadata". Then Zotero waits a while, turns grey and freezes all the firefox tabs, including its own. It lasts for approximately 1 minute, then it comes back. This is too much time for waiting when you have several references to link.

    Can you provide a Debug ID for a slow renaming operation? That function should be instantaneous.

    Dear Dan,
    I am trying to submit the Debug log to Zotero server but it won't go. I have tried several times, it never finishes sending. A pop-up appears after some minutes: "Invalid response from server". I can display it though. Is there any other way I could send it?

    save as a text file, compress it as a zip, then send it to support@z...o.org referencing this thread.

    Are you clearing the debug output immediately before to make sure there's not excess output? How many lines does it log for the operation? (It's possible that whatever is causing the delay is also causing it to log many lines.)

    If you can't get the output to submit, you can save it to a text file (File -> Save As), compress the file (via right-click), and e-mail it to support@zot....org with a link to this thread.

    What view are you in when you perform this? The library root? A collection? A saved search? How many items are in that view?

    And are you able to provide a Debug ID just for a single slow rename operation? (The debug output you sent includes a number of non-slow operations, which may be helpful but makes the output a bit harder to decipher.) Again, you should ideally clear the output immediately before the problematic operation, perform it, and then immediately submit the output.

    I managed to send the debug output through Zotero, the debug ID is D1189319284.

    I opened Firefox, went to a saved search that displays all references with linked PDFs (237 items), cleared the last debug output and enabled debug logging from preferences and then tried to rename a file from metadata. Firefox froze for about 30 seconds and returned with the file renamed.
    Then I submitted the log.
    The freezing time varies, from seconds to minutes, sometimes crashing firefox.

    OK, but does this happen if you're not in a saved search? It's important to know what does and doesn't trigger it.

    And if this just happens in a saved search, what are the exact search conditions that make up the search? I do see a problem in your debug output, but we'll need to be able to reproduce it.

    You are right, I did a few tests and apparently it only happens inside the saved search.
    There is only one condition for this search: Attachment filetype is PDF

    I was using this search to identify the linked PDFs and rename them.

    You'll have to see if this still occurs in Zotero 3.0 (currently available as a Release Candidate, very soon available as Final)—I can't reproduce it. If it does, post here and let us know.

    Tried with Zotero 3.0rc1 through Firefox and the same occurs. Only in the saved search.

    Debug ID D1456263175.

    I consider it "solved", for I can transform the saved search into a new collection and rename the linked PDFs inside without the error.
