for mobile devices such as iPad it'd be useful to ...

...be able to export a collection/subcollection to a destination directory, such that the exact collection tree and their contents (pdf files attached to entries) are reconstructed and organized on the destination folder. Currently an export operation does a flat copy with no hierarchy/structure.

A user could use this for example when he/she wants to move a portion of their collection on an tablet, they directory structure would reflect the organizational structure inside zotero (for faster, easier location). Eg. Bookman app
and others on iPad allow one to drag and drop folders with docs into a (virtual) partition they export, when iPad is connected to a PC via USB.
The folder structure will be directly represented as Libraries and Sub-libraries inside those programs!

Thanks,
A.
  • There's a forthcoming ipad app - search for that on the forum. Also search for Zotfile Reader.
While export/import isn't recommended for working with your own library, Zotero RDF does preserve collections.
