Suggestion: Collections or Tags?

I'm building up my library but I'm not sure whether I should organize my stuff by collections or tags?

It's a quite easy issue to resolve, but I'd like to take on some suggestions from other users for a better choice.

I'm open to your comments, thank you!

It's really a matter of taste. I think of my literature in very hierarchical terms - i.e. this article is part of this larger field and falls into this/these sub-groups. As a consequence I use collections almost exclusively. Also, for me standard browsing through "folders" is important - another reason for collections.

Other people use a lot of different labels for their items - they tend to prefer tags, which can be managed more quickly - just typing a couple of tag-names is a lot faster than dragging around items.

A third group of people combines the two - I think the most typical approach here is to use collections for projects - i.e. place all items you use for an article/chapter etc. in a collection/subcollection - and use tags thematically.

In the end you have to find out what works best for you.
