Always add the URL to a citation

It would be nice if the URL/source/referrer could be added all the time and not only sometimes to a new entry.
Sometimes I like to browse back to the source URL but it is not possible for every citation in my library (but for most of them at least). Try this URL for example: http://www.mendeley.com/research/myth-massive-media-impact-savagings-salvagings/
It won't be added as the source URL in Zotero.
Could you please always add the URL?
Thanks
  • Import translators like COinS (used on that site) don't do that as a general rule (COinS is a generic format that can occur outside of webpages, so including a URL doesn't make a lot of sense).
All specific site translator, do, as far as I know, include links to the original item, though often as attachments and not in the URL field (again, for good reason: the URL should only be included where it's bibliographic data.)
  • But that article for example has no URL reference at all in Zotero and it was hard to find it again.
Couldn't there be an option to add the URL as attachment or whatever?
    Would be nice...
  • Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/translators/raw/master/COinS.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start adding a snapshot of the current page. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.
  • By the way-- you'll need to restart Firefox after replacing the file before the change will take effect.
  • Yes, it works, great!
    Thank you!
