Double {} for some authors
When I exported my library last time I found one issue with two authors. Look for example at http://www.mendeley.com/research/myth-massive-media-impact-savagings-salvagings/ and import the first entry.
Now export it as BibTeX and you will find "author = {{McGuire}, W J}," instead of "author={McGuire, W J},". You can find another example on http://books.google.de/books?id=BGWUAAAACAAJ
How can I fix that?

ajlyonI think the extra braces are to maintain the word-internal capital letters.
-
PelekeHmm, but if click on the first link, scroll down and look at the BibTeX output then you will see only two (necessary) {}
-
ajlyonThat's because Mendeley's BibTeX export is less mature than Zotero's. The braces should be there; Zotero puts them there in its BibTeX export.

PelekeBut if I export it to JabRef the authors with two double braces are always at the top if I sort them which is quite annoying, especially when I import them to Microsoft Word. I always have to edit the entry to make it look "normal".

SimonThis is because BibTeX export is really made for BibTeX. Without parentheses, people who use LaTeX with BibTeX would get references where the names are formatted as "Mcguire" instead of "McGuire," which is not correct. I'm somewhat surprised that JabRef doesn't handle the parentheses properly, but you could use RIS export (or use Zotero's Word plugin and skip JabRef entirely).

PelekeWith Zoteros Word plugin I have the problem that the data is not listed in the Word sources which makes it impossible to use it "natively" but thanks for your hint with the RIS export.
