PDF attachments not uploading

This may turn out to be something stupid on my part, in which case I apologise in advance.

I have a problem regarding some of my attachments appearing to not upload properly. In a Zotero tab, the PDF icon appears underneath the associated item but when I double-click it, I get the 'attached file could not be found' error. I had assumed that this was a sync error, but actually when I log in through the web it seems these attachments are not present for certain items there either (i.e. there is no bracketed PDF link after the item, as there is for others). I assume therefore that the problem is actually that they have not been properly uploaded.

I do, however, have a gut feeling about why this is happening. Although I can't say for certain, it looks very much like all the files for which this has failed were imported on one of the 2 computers that I am using. I have never had any warning about a conflict or anything like that, but I m guessing there is something associated with that that is causing the problem.

Is there any light you might be able to shed on the situation, e.g. some golden rule I'm missing about working with 2 machines?
  • Oh, and many thanks for any help!
  • 1. Check whether file syncing is enabled on both sides (Preferences > Sync tab)
    2. Check whether you are not running out of space (ZFS comes with only 100Mb of free space and a large file on one side can stop the rest from syncing)
  • Well this is incredibly embarrassing. 1) was the answer. I initially ruled it out because I didn't think I could be so stupid but, sure enough, box not ticked. Definitely used to be, I think it must have got lost in a Firefox re-install.

Thanks, and sorry for wasting your time.
