Word function for ibid

If this is already a feature, I apologize. When working a project that is using a lot of repeat footnotes (citing the same source several times in a row), it would great to have a recent sources used folder, or an "ibid" button, that would bring up the last footnote (still while giving you the opportunity to change the page number.

One workaround would be to create a separate folder for each project...which is possible, but this would be really convenient for sections within a project that is repeating sources several times in a row.

Thanks
  • This is an interesting idea. Effectively, it'd need to be a "smart collection" that searches based on recent citation.

But I could see this being a little tricky. How would you propose Zotero would know about, and how would it deal with the possibility you're working on multiple documents simultaneously?
  • I'm not sure I'd mind if it pulled the most recent sources used, even if this means its pulling most recently used sources from multiple documents. While it'd be great if it was tied to the particular document itself, something would be better than nothing.

The actual ibid. should be easy to implement in the new generation of the word plugin (already included in the 3.0b versions of Zotero) - you could just type "ibid" and it would automatically insert the last source.
See here for some pics of the new plugin:

and here for some discussion on the possibility of including ibid:

Simon, who wrote it, seems to think it wouldn't be hard to do.

edit: it may still be desirable to have a smart collection, though I'm thinking that since the new plugin doesn't display collections by default it may not be worth it.
