Inconsistent capturing on library catalog (innoPAC)

Hi,
I've seen other threads on this, but they seem dated:
http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/14439/zotero-will-not-capture-from-an-innopac-system/

I am trying to capture references from a university's catalog. Some references worked, and others are not working. Zotero gives me the "Could not save item. Check known translator's issues" message.

The error ID is: 659947661

I tried restarting and updating Firefox, I have the Zotero 2.1.10

Here is one references that haven't worked
http://library.aub.edu.lb/search~S1/?searchtype=t&searcharg=Questions+sur+le+patrimoine+architectural+et+urbain+au+Liban&searchscope=1&sortdropdown=-&SORT=D&extended=0&SUBMIT=Search&searchlimits=&searchorigarg=tThe+Destruction+of+Memory%3A+Architecture+at+War

Thanks!
  • What Zotero does is to look for the word "frameset" in the URL - if it's there, the translation will work, e.g. for the item in question here:
    http://library.aub.edu.lb/search~S1?/cJ+363.69%3AQ56a%3Ac.1/c363.69%3Aq56a%3Ac.1/-3%2C-1%2C0%2CB/frameset&FF=c363.69%3Aq56a%3Ac.1&1%2C1%2C
you can get there e.g. by clicking 'save to my record'

If it's not, Zotero will try to find a link to the "MARC" (i.e. the machine readable) format of the item - unfortunately AUB doesn't display that and that's when Zotero fails.
We could try to see if there's a way to get Zotero to handle this more elegantly, but it's going to be hard - and I'm not sure if there's an easy way that won't risk breaking other innopac set-ups.
Alternatively, you could try to convince your library to add a link to a MARC view on their item pages, that should fix this.
  • Thanks! I realize it actually works when I have a list of results from my research, but not when I get a single book that appears immediately as the result. That's how the word "frameset"doesn't get in the URL.
Anyway, as for a long-term solution, I'll try contacting AUB's library to fix this.

Thanks a lot for the help!
