How to move parentheses for informal in-text citations?
A very basic question, but I've been wandering around the documentation, forums and videos and can't find a clear answer.
I'm using the word plugin. Very often in my manuscripts I need to alternate between "formal" in-text citations like:
'ipsum lorem' (Smith (1999), p.20)
...and "informal" ones like:
As Smith (1999) argues, ...
The problem is with the latter: for in-text citations, the parentheses (at least for the styles I've looked at) always appear on the outside of the citation. I can bring up the edit box and edit each of my informal citations. But this is laborious, and if I decide to change my citation style later, these fields won't automatically update anymore. Is this then the best way to accomplish what I want? If most of my citations are informal, must I always be removing those darned parentheses?
