Unending and unsuccessful sync state

ID = 752595925
The icon twirls forever. The last time it ran in this state for 11 hours. The time before it ran for 2 days. The status bar appears but shows minimal progress.
It seems to hang at 4% when 53 of 54 files have been uploaded.
I tried, on multiple occasions, shutting down Firefox and shutting down the computer.
The problem first appeared after I upgraded storage. I suspect that this is coincidental.
Thanks. I switched to Zotero from Endnote and, except for this glitch, have been very happy.
  • Does it hang in the same place (in the progress bar tooltip) every time? This is likely either a network problem or a problem with something on your computer—you might try disabling other Firefox extensions.

    There's no need to let it go for so long. If the file sync isn't progressing (again, as indicated by the progress bar tooltip), just stop and restart it or restart Firefox.
  • Yes, it hangs at the same place every time.
    I will disable extensions and see what happens.
    I did not let it run long to see if it would fix. I was called away from my office so I just let it run. I understand from the forums that 2 hours should be the outside limit.
    Thanks for the quick reply. I will report.
  • Well, 2 hours is for data syncing (and these days, that's almost never necessary). If you're seeing a progress bar, it's the file sync that's hanging, and that has nothing to do with sync queuing.
  • Thank you! I deleted extensions one by one, rebooting every time. Skype Click to Call turned out to be culprit. No loss - I hated it and was going to remove it anyway the next time I could do some maintenance.
    Thanks again.
  • It's possible it wasn't really the culprit—you'd have to reenable it and see if the problem recurred. But if you wanted to get rid of it anyway, no time like the present.
  • yep, that's listed: http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues#incompatible_extensions
  • Once I deleted the offending extension the sync process took under a minute. Thanks again.
  • adamsmith: Not necessarily. That was a long time ago, and those issues are pretty different. But certainly Skype doesn't have the best track record with Firefox extensions.
