I use the equivalent of whole primary sources contained within an anthology on a regular basis. As it is, there is no way to chose a specific "Type" that produces a properly formatted bibliographic entry. I imagine it would be rather simple to modify one of the existing types, such as "Book Section" to produce the required results. The alternative is manually altering all of my bibliographies which seems to decrease the utility of Zotero. Thanks.

you'll need to provide more context. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person here who understands what you're talking about.
And adding item types is neither quick nor simple - it involves changes in Zotero code, changes in Zotero sync code, changes in the citation style language that is used in multiple ref managers as well as changes in citation styles.

What context would help in this situation? There is currently no way for Zotero to output a footnote or bibliographic entry for a complete work by an author contained in an anthology edited by another author. The difference between this output form and other output forms used by Zotero is minimal. However, the lack of a proper form, a form which is stated clearly in the Chicago Manual at 14.114, means that manual manipulation of bibliographies is required on a regular basis thus diminishing the utility of Zotero.

what I mean is that not everyone has read and remembers our prior discussion on this nor knows the Chicago Manual by heart. I.e. the context that would help is the type of data you have, how it should be cited according to CMoS etc.
I do want to point out again, though, that CMoS does not require the type of citation you want. It is a "may" rule not a "should" or "must" rule.

As I said in my post on the earlier thread, the issue is not necessarily the "may" problem. There is currently no way to properly form such a bibliographic entry even if I choose not to italicize in this situation. The problem is that the title of the primary source within the anthology enters the bibliography in quotation marks (when the "Book Section" type is chosen), which is incorrect. Zotero should support what is a common entry. The fact that it does not causes problems and requires people to manually alter their bibliographies after the fact.

no, that's a misunderstanding of CMoS rules - a title either needs to be in quotation marks or in italics w/o quotation marks (see CMoS 8.161).
My understanding is that both are correct here.

to step back a little - the problem is that "book published within a book" doesn't strike me as a very common - and then not many citations styles even pay attention to it - so I have my doubts that it would be possible to convince the various stakeholders in Zotero and CSL to add it as an item type.
There are two alternatives that might be more promising:
1. Finding a way to fold this into a more generic type - one that might be able to cover plays (and maybe poems?) as well, for example.
2. Finding a way to add a field to the book section item type - again, a field that's as generic as possible - that would allow a style to distinguish between the two.
