Preview bibliography or see which references are in?

I was hoping there is a way so I can see which references I have included so far in my library.

EG - I have 20 references in total but I know I haven't included all of them - is there a quick way of seeing which ones I have used so far and how many times they have been cited?

The only way I know how is to create a bibliography - this is cumbersome and it doesn't tell me if I have cited a reference more than once.
  • I do not really understand what your problem is. If want to create a bibliography to a document, you can just use the word processor plugins and insert a bibliography. It will be formatted in the document and show what references you have cited that far in the document.
  • I know how to use Zotero - my whole point is that is there a way to check what references have been inserted without having to create a bibliography.
  • no, that doesn't exist. It will likely be easier to do in Zotero 3.0+, but someone would have to code it.
I suspect it's not high on the list of priorities for the developers (for exactly the reason mronkko points out), but it could certainly be done as a plugin if you're inclined to code one.
  • Sorry for underestimating your knowledge of Zotero.

There is something that could be of interest for you. Search for "preferred library" in this thread

This patch collects references used in a document into one collection so you see which ones you have used. It is possible that it will be included in 3.0, but we will see.
