Unable to empty trash on web but it's empty on standalone

I am running standalone on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard)and on Win 7 X64 pro and very pleased. I recently decided to purge my library and plan to rebuild from an exported RDF that is being cleaned up by my assistant (long story don't ask). After export I purged the entries from the web version and THEN from Mac OS standalone AND Win standalone - not then realizing that I could have JUST purged from standalone and then synced. After purging in both web and standalone and then syncing I got the Conflict Resolution dialogue with one pane showing the the local "deleted" and one w/ "Remote object" - the item "in" the trash on the web. Foolishly I decided to process all and selected the Local object (e.g. deleted) and did that more times that I am prepared to admit. I did not cancel sync but preserved to the bitter end. STILL the trash on the web is there. I have again sync-d, clicked away from trash, logged out, logged in, etc etc. Gack!
  • this would be a workaround and not a real solution, but you could try just deleting all items in your trash in the online library display - i.e. select the trash, then select all items and click move to trash. That should delete them permanently online. That would be in increments of 25, but unless you have thousands of items in your trash that's still pretty fast.
  • Yeah - i did that too! still there. The trash that won't go away :)
  • BTW - there are some 1,900 (!!) and I have (already) once manually (page by page) deleted them from the web trash - but they're still there. Upon syncing I got the conflict resolution dialogue (btw - this seems weird as BOTH items were in the trash - so why conflict revolve?) and I manually - selected the local deleted version - but the web versions is still there at the end. I wonder if the process of conflict resolution set some kind of flag or something. In retrospect I should have simply left the web version alone and deleted on standalone and synced. I didn't get that till after reviewing multiple forum posts. Also - I can't simply purge storage because I have other materials.
  • I followed adam's suggestion and AFTER syncing repeatedly - I went back and individually deleted items in the trash (all 1,900! - 25 at a time) - after exiting and syncing w/ standalone (which also has an empty trash) they all now appear to be gone.
