Style request: MDPI (general style)

Dear pros,

would it be possible to generate a general style for the MDPI journals (all journals share the same style)?

Similar style:
"Journal of the American Chemical Society"

Differences from similar style:
- Reference citation numbers should be placed in square brackets, i.e. [ ] in the text.
- In the bibliography, references are listed by number+full stop, i.e. 1. blabla

Link to style guide: http://www.mdpi.com/authors/references

There is also an Endnote style available, which cannot be imported into Zotero: http://www.mdpi.com/files/word-templates/MDPI.ens

Cheers,
Succinimid
  • Please make sure that these are the only differences - the style you want to use for comparison is "American Chemical Society with titles" (J ACS doesn't list article titles). Pay attention to bold and italics as well as delimiters (comma, semicolon, period) between different parts. If it's really just those two this should be quick.
  • you are right! In between the authors and the journal comes the title+full stop. Apart from this, I did not find any differences (books etc are the same)
  • OK, the style is now up on the repository as "MDPI Journals" any problems let me know.
  • Would it be possible to upload a new version of the MDPI citation style to the current repository? At the moment it is not correct regarding:
    - 'Title of the article' not italic
    - 'Abbrevation journal name' in italic
    - 'year' in bold

MDPI only offers a *.ens file, which cannot be uploaded on Zotero, unfortunately.

    Thank you for your help!

Sorry, I don't follow. Zotero's MDPI style has journal titles in italics and year in bold, both of which are right as per your link. Article titles aren't supposed to be in italics, but book titles are. For reference, here's the style

  • @adamsmith, Thank you so much for sharing the repository link, it is was very helpful. I was struggling with MDPI referencing style.
