Can't save new objects via one-click

Hello all. Yesterday, zotero stopped being able to cite via the "auto-identify" (that's what I'm calling it) button in the URL bar in FF. The button appears when there's something recognizable in the focused tab, and when I click it the red-bordered grey box pops up, yet remains blank, and hangs there for a long time, and nothing happens. I can still add new citations manually, and I just discovered I can still do it via DOI. Is there a way to re-initiate that one-click function?
