How to get "et al." for books with > 1 author without entering all of them
In some cases, a book's author or editor is listed on a source website (e.g., amazon.com) as simply "John Doe, et al.," or "John Doe, et al., Eds." or "Doe, John, et al." or something along those lines. In other words, I cannot import more authors than just one. But I want my bibliographies to show the "et al." I found something on this forum about "et al." showing up automatically when there are 3 or more authors (or 4 or more, depending on what bibliography style you are using). But how can I force it when I only know one author, but I know there are others?
I tried entering "et al." as a second author's name, but that doesn't work. The bibliography in that case shows the book as being authored by "John Doe and et al." but I don't want the "and" there.
