Upgrade StorageZotero won't work with Firstsearch for me?

I'm just getting started with Zotero, but have hit a stumbling block. It's working with university catalogues, and several other sources, but when I use Firstsearch databases (MLA, or WorldCat for example), Zotero doesn't seem to 'sense' the bibliographic data in the search results. That is to say, no book/folder icon appears in the URL window. I've tried giving it time, I've tried with very few results, but Zotero and Firstsearch just won't speak to each other.
Could an Access System (like an Athens Sign-in) cause these problems?
I'd appreciate any advice.
