New items from non-html web content

I couldn't find anything in the documentation about this, but is there a way to do something like “Create a New Item From Current Page” for web content like pdf files, mp3s, etc.? I'd like to have the media automatically downloaded and preferably parsed to come up with some reasonable guesses to use for Title, etc.

I realize I can just download it myself and use “Store Copy of File...,” but I do this often enough that having to go through two extra save/open file dialogs is really undesirable.

Can I also say how exciting it is to have come across Zotero!? I was working on some software for myself with some similar capabilities, but the power of collaborative free software has, of course, taken this project way beyond anywhere I could have gotten!
  • Usually it's easier to first get the metadata in Zotero (e.g. from Google Scholar) and then drag the file you want to add as an attachment onto the item.
  • Thanks for the quick reply!
