Chrome connector problems with WorldCat

Having translator issues in the new Chrome connector: namely not able to translate (from WorldCat) journal articles into the Standalone and books are added without author name (first and last).

These are new problems in the 2.999.1 Chrome Connector release (used with Standalone 3.0b1, as I was not having them in the 2.0 releases.

PS. As an alternative, where can I re-download the older release for both Standalone and Chrome Connector? I wasn't thinking and replaced upon install.

Thanks!

Can you provide sample URLs for the pages that aren't being translated correctly?

If you tell me your OS, I can give you links to the Standalone Alpha, but keep in mind that if you have any issues with it, you will be completely on your own.
  • And just checked: having the journal article problem from WorldCat with Firefox as well...
  • Sure: http://www.worldcat.org/title/samuel-beckett-today-an-annual-bilingual-review-samuel-beckett-aujourdhui/oclc/311578276&referer=brief_results, for example of journal. For example of book translated without author name, see http://www.worldcat.org/title/samuel-beckett-in-the-literary-marketplace/oclc/681500653&referer=brief_results. Those are examples of problems with Standalone and Chrome connector, but to be honest having similar ones with Firefox built-in.

I am Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I understand I would be on my own with the Alpha

    Thank you!
  • The first is a "bug" in the WorldCat item metadata. The item is listed as a journal, rather than a journal article, so Zotero refuses to import it. This won't change if you revert to Standalone Alpha, and it's specific to that particular item.

The second is a Zotero bug, and I've fixed it for the next beta. It also exists in Zotero for Firefox 3.0b1. It shouldn't be an issue in Zotero for Firefox 2.1.8.

Standalone 2.1a3 is here, and the Chrome Connector 0.9.1 is here.
  • Great thanks very much.
