Retrieving style information from document

I am not an expert user of zotero and facing the following problem:
I want to use a style that I have worked with earlier. I have the document that uses the style but the style is not installed on my computer. I thought it would get synced along with my other data, but found that is not the case. I'm wondering if I can retrieve the information from the document somehow.

Many thanks in advance

Operating system: Windows 7
Zotero version: 2.1.8r10027 (with Firefox 7.0a2)
Word processor: Microsoft word 2007
  • You should be able to change the style by clicking the Set Document Preferences button in the toolbar, and the document should work. What information are you trying to retrieve?
  • Thank you, but I don't want to change the style of that document. I want to know which style I used in it to be able to use it in other documents. I chose the style because of its properties but forgot the name.
  • If you paste some citations - both in text and bibliography - here I might be able to tell you. I don't know if/where it's stored in the document, though, sorry.
  • Thank you for the offer. I think I found it, though. I installed some similar styles from the repository and if I open the preferences for the document now it tells me it's one of them (Oryx). I had hoped there was an easier way, but maybe it's coming in a future release. In the meantime I will remember to note the styles I'm using.

Thanks again, I love using zotero
  • It seems to me that Zotero should be able to fetch the style if it's missing-- especially for styles in the Zotero style repository.
  • Yes, that solution has been suggested in several threads already that I've found by searching for "style sync". Therefore I thought that it would be possible to identify the style of a document.
