Report ID: 358319857: Document Preferences box in Word is empty

I've had a very recent problem with Zotero. I'm running Windows 7 with Word 10, Firefox version 3.6.19, Zotero version 2.1.8. I've reinstalled all components including Firefox but it's made no difference. The error happens in both new and old documents.

In a new document when I click on Insert Citation the box Document Preferences which includes the options for Citation Style is empty, i.e. I cannot select the citation style. Under Format Using the first there is no text next to the first radio button.

If I click on Cancel I receive the following error: Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Component returned failure code Ox80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [zoteroIntegrationDocument.canInsertField].

In an old document (i.e. one that already contains a Zotero citation) it tells me that it needs to upgrade the document in order to work with Zotero 2.1. I then get the same empty Preferences box and when I click on cancel it says Zotero experienced an error updating your document. this.style is undefined.

The error report gives me the following:
[JavaScript Error: "uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.clearUserPref]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://dotnetassistant/content/bootstrap.js :: BootStrapDotNetAsssitantExtension :: line 52" data: no]"]

Unfortunately this means nothing to me. I've never had any problems before.

Any help would be much appreciated!
  • Try going to the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences, and clicking the "Reset Styles" button.
