Basically when I attempt to install the OOo extension for Zotero, I get an error message prompting me to ensure that OpenOffice.org is closed, then restart firefox and try to complete the integration again.

Any tips??? Thanks!!!

    Sorry it took a while to come back to this. I'm running OOo 2.9.1 at the moment, I had tried to upgrade to 3.3.0 a while back but I was having difficulties with that, also... Re-downloading the update and I'll attempt it again.

    Good call on the version, didn't even think to check to update. Sorry about that!

    Do you think it's worth re-installing the OOo extension once I'm all up to date? As far as I'm aware, my Firefox is entirely updated, I think it's somewhere in the 5s nowadays? It's not anything beta, I'm pretty sure about that much.

    I will report back! Soon this time! :)

    Updated OOo to 3.3 -- now I've even taken the liberty of checking what version of Zotero I'm running and will re-install the 2.1 plugin. Will report back in a few for all the other new users who might run into this problem.

    The OpenOffice.org plug-in requires OpenOffice.org (or LibreOffice) 3.3 or later on OS X (Java is broken in earlier versions), so it's not surprising that the extension won't work. You may have to reinstall the extension in Zotero Preferences->Cite.

    It's funny, just as you posted I was in the middle of doing that! I checked to ensure I'm updated on all fronts, re-installed the plug-in from the Internet, and went into the plug-in preferences and re-installed it there.

    The confirmation box I got said I may have to re-start my computer, and seeing as it's running a little laggy and it's got an update waiting on it, that doesn't seem like a bad idea.

    Any advice as to where I would find the new and exciting citation button in my OOo when I get back and open it up again? I created a 'test' file that I'd like to play around with using my nifty new citer.

    It should just appear, but if not, you should be able to open it under View->Toolbars->Zotero (or, on some systems for some inexplicable reason, View->Toolbars->Add-on 1).

    This is amazing.

    After updating everything, everywhere, rebooting, and opening up OOo, it did take a minute of searching, but I found that the extension had replaced the File toolbar. A click and a drag, and I'm in business!
