Upgrade StorageError: "this._editor is undefined"

Running Zotero 2.1.8 in Firefox 5.0 on Mac 10.6.8
When Zotero is expanded in tab mode all is well, but when Zotero is reduced so that it takes up half the screen (I forget the technical name for this mode), the right-hand panel is showing up blank. I'm hoping the reported error might shed some light on what's going on.
Update: Now the error is occurring in tab mode as well.
Clarification: Restarting Firefox fixed the problem. But I'm hoping the error report might shed some light on what caused it.
