how to remove the gray fields

hi,

I have ro rework my bibliography that I did with zotero manually now to make some adjustments... how can I get rid off the "grey fields" that appear as soon as I click on the bibliography?

I already copied it into a new document, but the "grey fields" did stay

    That's what the "remove Zotero field codes" butto is for. Be aware that this will break all connections between Zotero and the document - so you might want to do this on a copy of the document and keep one with the field codes intact.

    it does not work.

    the program asks me to "insert a new foot note" first,
    and if I do this, all of my 30 pages bibliography disappear all of a sudden....

    seems I either work with the grey fields or I loose the whole thing...

    This is all quite odd and shouldn't happen in the first place.

    If you save a copy of the document as .rtf that would probably do the trick. If that messes up the formatting too much, you can probably copy the bibliography to a new document save that as rtf and then (after closing and reopening) you'd likely have the grey field removed.
