have you tried restarting and syncing again?

Yes, a few times. Sync is working, it just seems to choke partway through. Each time it attempts to sync there are fewer files to upload, so it seems to be getting through some of them.

I've also disabled all add-ons and extensions except for Zotero.

Edit: I did attach two rather large (book-length) PDFs today, without compressing. Could that be it?

yes - your sync probably actually goes through - the error is for the file storage - maybe Dan can have a look and see if there's anything useful on this on the server side.
