Syncing error ID 1781466786

We had some trouble syncing with the Zotero servers recently. We are using a shared account in our lab and so far everything was fine, but recently most computers in the lab have stopped syncing - the green arrow just keeps spinning with the "getting updated data from sync server" for >8 h without result. I tried disabling the installed Firefox extensions (nothing fancy, just the default Java Console 6.0.24 and Java Quick Starter 1.0, on one computer we also had Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 0.0.0 (?)) and got Zotero to sync so far that it displayed some conflicts. After resolving these, however, I got the error message returned in the error ID 1781466786 ("Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630003" ...)
Restarting Firefox did not help.
I am using Zotero 2.1.7 on Firefox 4.0.1, running on Windows XP. File sync is set up to contact our own server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I would hate to lose the work I did on the Zotero library from this computer in the last days.
Apart from this I would like to mention that I am totally in love with Zotero. It is an awesome software and I really enjoy using it!

Other people have gotten this error, and at least in those cases it appeared to be due to a rather insidious low-level bug in Firefox itself.

As a workaround, go to about:config in the Firefox address bar, look for javascript.options.tracejit.chrome, and double-click it to set it to false. Then restart Firefox and try the sync again.

If the sync goes through, you should be able to reset that setting to true in about:config. (If you don't, Firefox will run a bit slower.)

This seems to have helped. I encountered a few more errors, but after restarting a few times, the sync went through OK. I also installed the 2.1.8 update and this appears to have lessened our syncing troubles. Thanks a lot!
