Enable bibtex output of online libraries

I wish there were more ways of accessing the semantic data in user libraries... If I for example go here: http://www.zotero.org/groups/icscl/items/PHFWMDRG - and want to import this publication to my BibDesk, there doesn't seem to be a way. I like Zotero, but open applications should use open standards so that you are not forced to use one single application... What is the point of publishing all these publications, if others cannot easily add them to their libraries?
  • The Zotero Everywhere project (http://www.zotero.org/blog/zoteros-next-big-step/) includes allowing all the existing export translators to run on the server, which will make it possible to provide RIS, BibTeX, MODS and other output formats on the website.

The portion of the project that affects the website is coming quite soon, to judge by the major code commits that have been happening in the last weeks and days. I agree that the current site could do a better job providing at least basic embedded metadata, but it's about to replaced by something radically different that will certainly have proper metadata.

See https://www.zotero.org/trac/timeline to follow the cryptic progress towards that goal.
