Zotero Macword plug-in with Firefox 5

adamsmith pointed out that the macword plug-in isn't yet compatible with firefox 5. However the 2.1.7 changelog notes firefox 5 compatibility for Zotero in general. Would you mind adding a note pointing out that the macword plug-in isn't yet? I suspect others like me may read the changelog and believe it fine to upgrade.

Cheers

Robert
  • Given the cause is known to me, and I'm not confident enough to do the testing adamsmith suggested to see if I could trick firefox into running it, let me know if this request should be made in the 'general' forum.

    Cheers
  • this is fine - devs read all threads anyway. Added a note here
    http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation_for_zotero_2.1?&#microsoft_word
    does that make sense?

You can use this to test if the MacWord plugin works in FF5
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
    no technical expertise required.
  • Thanks

I downloaded the addon, enabled the word addon and restarted firefox again. It says that it is incompatible. I restarted word and tried to add a citation and that says it can't load the component required to communicate with the word processor.

Is there anything else I can do to test or give info?
  • nope - that probably means Simon actually has to make some adjustments for compatibility
  • OK, fair enough. Thanks for your help. I'll keep an eye out for a revised version.
  • The add-on itself is compatible, but you need a new build of PythonExt to be able to use it. See my post here and let me know if it works for you.
  • Thanks Simon. I installed the new build and have been able to add citations and a bibliography. No problems so far. I'll post if anything shows up.
