Translated works & APA style

The info window needs to have at least one additional field to correctly reference a translated work in APA style.

Below is the correct APA style citation for a translated work:

Foucault, M. (1998). Life: Experience and science. In P. Rainbow (Ed.), Aesthetics, method, and epistemology (R. Hurley, Trans.). New York: New Press. (Original work published 1985)
*In the text, this would be cited as (Foucault, 1985/1998)

Here is what Zotero exports to a bibliography:

Foucault, M. (1998). Life: Experience and science. In P. Rainbow (Ed.), R. Hurley (Tran.), Aesthetics, method, and epistemology. New York: New Press.
*In the text, the Zotero citation would appear as (Foucault, 1998).

The most apparent feature that is needed is a field to type in when the original work was published...there would also have to be a modification to get the in-text citation to appear as (1985/1998) rather than just (1998). In addition, the name of the translator seems to appear in the incorrect order in the bibliography.

Here is why I update this one...

I work actually on the concept of value (not in philosophy but in economics). One of the first working on that was Aristotle... But as a non ancient greek reader I use this translation : http://books.google.fr/books?id=eOC4KOKPb8UC

And, in Zotero I used book:Politique, author:aristotle, date:1848 and in the "éditors" field I used : Dumont, translated by Jules Barthélemy Saint-Hilaire

So it makes (harvard style) Aristote, 1848. Politique 2ᵉ éd., Dumont, traduit par Jules Barthélemy Saint-Hilaire. Available at: http://books.google.fr/books?id=eOC4KOKPb8UC.

Well it is far from perfect but as there is no "original" date for this work it is not a problem. But it is for more recent work, like Bourdieu in english for example. Translated in the end of 70's and originally published in early 70...

So it seems that addition of an item translated work OR fields like [translated by:] OR [originally published in (date): ] should be enough (with default style in text like : original author, original date/transalted date well, like APA recommandation or whatever, it is just a matter of style after all).

Hope I make myself clear enough, and if anyone has an anwser, please, let me now...

original date of publication is planned for inclusion in Zotero - I can't give you any expected timeline, but the next time fields are added, that's going to be one.
